- Laivasähkötyö got the electrical work done with the sulphur washing system,
which was delivered by Wärtsilä Diesel, onboard Containership VII during the
docking at Turku Repair Yard in Naantali.
With the installed washer, the vessel will meet the future sulphur dioxide
emission (SOX) requirements in the SECA area.
History
The 1970s
In 1972, Laivasähkötyö moved again. New premises were rented on Kalastajankatu street near Turku Harbour. After four years, the company purchased the premises.
1973 was the year of the Great Cable Crisis. Laivasähkötyö had already completed the installation of cables to the vessels of a Soviet customer, when the customer suddenly refused to approve the work done. Long negotiations were undertaken in the finest tradition of Soviet-Finnish trading, involving several sauna parties and many shots of vodka. Finally, an understanding was reached and the customer approved the installed cables.
Elmarino-Shipping Oy was established in 1976 for the import of marine electronics and navigation equipment. In the same year, Laivasähkötyö purchased an electrical motor repair shop that was to be the foundation of Sähkökonehuolto Hietarinta Oy.
In 1978, Laivasähkötyö became a limited company. The same year operations were expanded from marine electrifications to building electrifications.
